Rare has said that our beloved Avatars are getting a redesign due to problems with Kinect games.

Nick Burton, senior programmer at avatar creators Rare, says that they’ll become more realistic and will essentially be ‘Avatar 2.0′.

The proportions will be made more realistic because hand-eye co-ordination broke when using the old cartoony proportions – not in terms of hardware but rather, player perception.

That’s all we know for now but expect to see the new avatars around Kinect’s launch.

Do you want to have a voice in the outcome of the next Carmine character (known as Clayton Carmine) in Gears of War 3?  For those of you who have played the last two games, you can pretty much guess on the fate of the next member of the Carmine family.  But if you are hoping to finally see things change for the family, then you will have a chance to voice your opinion by buying an Avatar t-shirt that tells the world what you think should happen.  The t-shirt that sells the most will decide who Gears of War 3 gets written for the character.

And the good news about this is that Epic is not just trying to milk you all out of more money.  Proceeds from this will benefit Child’s Play Charity.
