I just read this over at Game Stooge and wanted to share this with you all. I am simply going to copy and past this article from that site as I think Jonah Falcon summed it all up properly. Please be sure to check out their site when you have a moment and thanks to Game Stooge for the story.

PlayStation 3 owners are apparently having serious issues with online multiplayer on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, apparently caused by a patch to fix a trophy glitch.
[Infinity Ward's Robert] Bowling, PS3 owners can expect a “party invite update by Friday,” which should hopefully resolve this issue. Until then, players will have to make due with the single-player campaign. It’s not like this “multiplayer” thing is important, right?…
…Update 2: Tipster Brent point us to yet another tweet, this time from Robert Bowling who confirms the multiplayer downtime is caused by server overload. According to Bowling, “Xbox Live servers are maintained and ran by Microsoft. PSN servers are ran and maintained by 3rd party companies hired to do so.” Seems this mysterious “3rd party” infrastructure simply cannot match the Microsoft-funded backbone of Xbox Live.
The moral of the story is: you get what you pay for.

Or as bjswick33 once said, “You pay what you get for”
Thanks Haze for pointing that out! HAHA
Oh man… could you imagine having MW2 and not being able to play it online for a WEEK? What BS…
I cant wait to rub this in at my co worker who is a PS fanboy
It looks as if MP is fixed according to a news item I read this morning.
Don’t forget Battlefield 1943 have a similar problem on the 360 with not enough server.
I wished we didn’t have to pay a subscription to play online with our friends, isn’t it about time microsoft made that part free, because they must be making loads with all the DLC, from add-ons to themes and the rest.
The BF 1943 problem was EA’s fault and not Microsoft’s. So that is not a good comparison.
But yes Xbox Live has has issues in the past. Modern Warfare 1 anybody? But I feel the Microsoft did well by the customer and gave away a free arcade game to everyone for the issues. They did not have to do that and regardless of if you liked the game or not, you still got something free.
and all my freinds say PS3 is better. Idiots =]
Your flaming sony for server issues, but as I read it, it was Infinity Ward who caused the problem, which there for can be compared to ea cock up with bf 1943, I don’t think many online games that have been release, haven’t had any issues of some kind.
Since these types of issues make Sony look bad I think they need to do something similar to Microsoft. Have 1 system that all games use. This would solve the issues. They may need to charge, but it would be worth it.

For comparison.
